Manifest file = a file that accompanies software distributions which itemizes the contents of the distribution and/or allows the contents of the distribution to be verified manually or by automated processes, such as an installer program (Many applications, many variations).
Metafile file (Many applications, many variants).
MetaFont file = a vector font description language created by Donald Knuth.
Meta-INF file = a file that contains descriptions of a distribution/package/archive or which may refer to files/objects which have these descriptions (Many applications).
