.DBF
Database File (FoxPro 2, Visual FoxPro, FoxBASE).
dBase format database File (Many applications).
dBase II-IV Database File format.
dBase V database file. Most applications, including dBase, used DBF files for a multiplicity of purposes, and not merely to store raw database entry data. Calling these files a resource file, configuration file, audio file, etcetera would not be improper if that is what they contained (Ashton Tate's dBase and it's many imitators, fanboys, etcetera, many variants).
